Hello,
nice of you to drop by.
I’m Annette Langen, but most people call me ‘Felix’s mother’. My ears may not be as long the cuddly bunny’s, but I was the one who thought up and wrote down his travel adventures.

I’ve also written over 100 other children’s books. Would you like to see them?
Where do you get the ideas for your books?

As you see, I am surrounded
I get my ideas from real life. Well, I do make up some things. Where should I start?
Well personally, I love travelling almost as much as Felix and I have written just as many letters to my pen pals all over the world as he has.
- I discovered The Little Motzy Cow (Die kleine Motzkuh) when my daughter was in the phase of her life many call the terrible twos (or threes, or fours).
- “Huuu-Berta, the Smallest Ghost of All” landed on my windowsill late one night – or was it early morning? She was shivering, quite small and very distressed. She asked me to write down her story so that the misunderstandings between humans and ghosts could finally be cleared up.
So all my books and characters have their own origins, but as people who know me often say, they do see me in my books. Which I guess shouldn’t surprise me ;).

My vita
I was very lucky to grow up in a family of booksellers with countless books and readings by authors. In addition to that, my parents took me on many trips as a child and as a teenager. I had pen pals all over the world. I also visited many of them in their homes. So, over the years I have often been a guest in other cultures, and this is what has given me inspiration for the “Felix” books.
Before I became an author, however, I worked as a copy editor for a publishing house which was specialized in children’s books. During this time, I started writing children’s books on the side and was able to publish my first book in 1989. Since then, I have published over 150 books in my name. I have been working exclusively as an author since 2000.
I have two wonderful children who are grown up now and I live in the beautiful Bergisches Land region of Germany near Cologne.

My commitment
I believe that reading to children is the best investment any person can make in that child’s future. That’s why I’ve been volunteering to promote reading to children for more than two decades:
• From 2001 to 2015 school sponsor at Yorckstraße elementary school in Solingen, Germany
• since 2011 as a reading ambassador for Stiftung Lesen (Reading Foundation)
• since 2012 as patron of Mentoring Coesfeld, which supports children with reading, speech and writing difficulties
And what else?
I have been a member of Soroptimist International since 2014. “Sor-opti-what?”, you’re probably asking. Well, it’s the world’s largest service organization for working women. An NGO (non-governmental organization) which is internationally networked and has UN consultative status. It is committed to the sustainability goals of the UN Agenda 2030. Google it!
